get the impression WBros made this film by mistake

Affleck was supposed to star and direct (& write?) The Batman and was going to be based on Arkham Asylum or something but then he had all his issues divorce, drinking, rehab plus JL sort of bombed so he walked away from it all. so WBros mustve been like 'er..does anyone want to do Batman?' to which Reeves willve been jumping up and down hand raised going 'me!me!me!' so WB were like 'oh the Apes dude, ok sure' ..

But then think there was a change of studio management (whenever that happens stuff not already shooting usually gets thrown out/rejigged etc but by then The Batman was already in production).. and there mustve been like a Kevin Feige type assigned to DC movies as we getting The Flash doing the multiverse and bringing back Keaton not just a cameo but a major supporting role (that will probably lead to him heading a Batman Beyond movie) plus even Affleck is coming back..so this Batman movie is now just sort of 'there' and its like 'well the REAL Batman is coming back what we need this emo Batman for?'

.but right now WBros are probably like 'we'll see' and waiting to see how it all pans out..if The Batman turns out to be a classic that everyone loves like TDK and Joker and it makes a billion then emo Batman will be considered the REAL Batman it'll get sequels/trilogy and Keaton as Batman will just be a fun aside thing in The Flash and maybe a few other movies... but if The Batman is kind of 'meh' average box office then they'll probably press on with Keaton in Batman Beyond, etc

Movies like this don't get made "by mistake." If it got the green light, then the suits obviously thought it would be a financially viable project.

Ok

Every DCEU film has been a mistake.

Anyone else think this lol

WB is back in that phase where they're throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. However, I don't think this particular project was a mistake. WB knows that Batman is their hottest property right now and they should keep a series going just in case if the DCEU falters again (which I bet my left nut they didn't expect WW1984 to be the first step in that direction).
All this multiverse stuff seems like window dressing to help the Flash movie.

WW84 will have shocked Wbros to the core.. like 'wtf is this shit?! Damn we did not see that coming!'

Having seen it, yeah it's certainly not as good as the first one and that's too bad. But I don't think it was deserving of the outright loathing it received.
Nevertheless, WB is likely reassessing their long term plans for what remains of the DCEU. WW3 has already been announced, Aquaman 2 and Shazam 2 are definitely getting made, we got Black Adam filming now finally, and the Flash movie seems to be getting underway. Plus there's DC films being produced for HBO Max like Batgirl and Blue Beetle.

The Batman is the only DC movie I'm salivating for because it's Batman, he's the coolest superhero, he has the best suit, the best villains and has all the cool gadgets.

Affleck in The Flash is probably something made to think he's in it and bang they get ya he's erased from existence.

The only reason we got DCEU because they wanted to capitalise on MCU.

This movie and the sequels they make is gonna be a big waste of time cause it's just gonna be one huge drawn out origin story and we're gonna go a whole decade without a fully realized Batman on screen.
