Cheyanne question

So I watched most of this, beautiful. There were a few parts that I missed. Did Cheyanne die? Last I saw of her was the scene where her husband came in with no hair. Then at the end her husband was at the 5 year party. Did they have a scene for her death I missed or did they not have one?
thanks

I was wondering the same thing... but there was no specific mention of her death except that Amber (the daughter) looks just like her mother.

I'm going to assume that because she had a daughter the cancer went into remission. Then after she had the daughter, the cancer came back and she passed away from it...?

I was wondering if she had died because she had a kid. It seems obvious she was dead. She wasn't at the hospital at the end. The movie never mentions how she died.

reply

Well it was obviously from the cancer, somewhere in those 5 years she died after having her child

They never specifically mentioned her death. I think we are just supposed to infer that Cheyenne had a reoccurance of her cancer and passed away.

It's like she said, even without the breasts the cancer could still come back. Sadly it did, but she didn't remove them for nothing... it possibly allowed her to have a child.

Having a kid had nothing to do with whether she died, for pete's sake. Her absence is what speaks volumes.

I was wondering the same thing and wished they told us more about Cheyanne like the others.

reply

Ok good, I didn't miss anything. Thanks everyone.
But that does bother me that they just left us hanging on that one. It's not all clear what happened to her, it could've been anything. But, oh well. It was still really good.

I think it was there to show that not everyone beats the odds even after remission. it wasn't made a big deal or pointed out. but it got the point across. personally I felt sad she wasn't there at the end. but that is life.

I also assumed that she died, although I wish there was a scene or line about it. I guess they figured they had covered the death aspect of breast cancer with Charlotte. Did I mishear or did they name their daughter Amber? Did anyone else find it strange/creepy that they named their daughter after her boob?

reply

Yep, that's creepy.

reply

i thinks its cute that they maned their daughter after the boob that had the lump.

reply

Haha I don't know if I'd be comfortable being named after a lumpy boob...

Dear Mary, you who gave birth without sin, teach me how to sin and not give birth.

I DID think the 'Amber" thing was a little strange, but at that point I think they named their daughter that not out of a weird sense of playfulness, but to represent her bravery and what she went through. Plus, even though her breasts weren't there anymore, they were still sexual and affectionate with each other, so maybe Amber represented that :) The fruit of their love, too.

1 out of 5 people with it die. The other four were there. 2+2=fish

I figured Cheyanne died, perhaps even as recent as a few months before the five year "Kiss the Wall" ceremony. I just figured it mirrored the beginning, where a young Pearl saw her mother Charlotte die. It's sad to think about because Cheyanne was the youngest girl who had the breast cancer and she was the only one who died.

I sometimes don't read the bottom of posts because I think it's a signature.
