LBJ's pronounciation of "sacrifice."

In E03 at 1:08:08 we hear LBJ say in an address to the people over the airwaves "We have no desire to devastate that which the people of North Vietnam have built with toil and sacrifice." except he pronounces "sacrifice" like "SAC-ruh-fiss." I have never heard that word pronounced that way in my whole life as a native English speaker and old movie fan. Anyone else? Is it a Texas thing?
