PBS' Facebook page telegraphed the end result

For the two weeks prior to the finale, they highlighted one contestant exclusively - the ultimate winner.

Are talking about...

Nadiya?

If so, I don't think it was that big a deal since the season that just finished airing on PBS last night was actually over a year old and the videos of each episode had been on YouTube (where I first watched them last year).

But the purpose of the FB postings was to encourage viewership - more likely to be achieved by a heightened sense of anticipation than by announcing the result before running the episode.

Okay, I understand now. I don't do Facebook myself so I wasn't aware that it was that big a deal... my mistake. It was still a really great final though because it could have been any of the 3 of them winning.

Actually if you brought up GBBS on Google at all, there the winner was. It's one of the cons of watching a show so long after it originally aired. But my PBS did not have the winner showcased. Guess it depends if you look at your local, or the main PBS. I do have to say, even though I knew who was going to be eliminated in each round, it didn't bother me cuz I watched for the baking itself.

Same here. And I actually LIKE knowing the outcome(s) ahead of time because it causes me to watch a little more closely to see what the person who's about to be eliminated did or didn't do.

Last year, I watched on YouTube the season that just finished airing on PBS and I took notes on the Signature Bake, Technical Challenge, Showstopper, Star Baker, and Eliminated Person for each episode. When I recently watched (and recorded) that season from PBS, I referred to those notes so I'd know what was coming. One of my favorite moments when I watched on YouTube was the episode where they did crème brulee and Sue absolutely cracked me up when the judges were at Tamal's station. While Paul and Mary were talking, Sue was seen shoveling spoonfuls of Tamal's crème brulee into her mouth and at the end of the judges' critique, Sue quietly stacked up about 5 of them, said "Thank you very much", and walked off while Tamal and even Paul chuckled. I had also made note of that moment from YouTube and was really happy to see it again a few weeks ago... in fact, I rewatched that part 3 or 4 times because it just makes me smile.

I remember that part with Sue. That's part of what I love about this show, because it keeps it light.
