Great movie, dissatisfied with the ending though.

Movie was a very easy-going and humorous watch for me. Good story about 2 friends, great laughs, good wit, and a lot of the comedic elements were in the acting and nuances as opposed to just the dialogue. My only problem was with the ending. ---SPOILERS, duh--- My issue was them raising this new email conflict between Amy and Nick in the coffee shop, then adding the actress into the argument. Just didn't seem genuine enough for me but whatever, she complains about not meeting the actress, Nick then takes her to a party to meet the actress and then they still break up? Amy seems disappointed with the actual meet and drink she has with the actress and so she breaks up with her fiance? I don't get it. Otherwise, great movie.

I think what happens in this scene is that Amy is almost swindled by Nick into forgetting the issue by throwing her favorite actress in her face. At first Amy is excited about meeting her and temporarily forgets her problems with Nick, but as she converses with Jamie the actress, she starts to realize she's only an actress. She sees that she's just talking to a girl that Nick emotionally (and nearly physically) cheated on her with. When Amy has trouble connecting with Jamie, this allows her to step back and see what is really going on. This is why Amy still ends up leaving Nick. She knew she had to.

Thanks for clearing that up.. now that you put it that way, it definitely seems like that was the case. I guess I was on par with all of the subtleties up until when it counted the most lol.

Yes, Amy's nosy questions showed that she had more than a casual interest in Nick. On the other hand, I think Nick will be fine in the long run.
