This episode is based on the Hotel Cecil, right?

From what I heard that is the most haunted hotel in the US and the site of very bizarre deaths, it is also where Richard Ramirez stayed, even if they don't mention it and changed the name. I am sure this is based on the Hotel Cecil or whatever it is called now.

No way...this is definitely the Lemp Mansion in St Louis. I knew it as soon as I saw how they had the place decorated...likewise, the name is the Locke Mansion on the show.

I've had experiences there...I worked there for two years when I was younger. The place is wild

I figured out that it was Lemp pretty quickly, but it also confused me. At the beginning of the episode, it said the name was changed to protect the privacy of the hotel or some nonsense. I thought Lemp Mansion embraced and even advertised their haunted status. Don't they do that anymore? I remember going down to Saint Louis for the haunted Lemp tunnel tours and I stayed at Lemp Mansion a couple times.

Felt creepy, but nothing really happened. Strangest thing was one of those big black vault-looking doors at the end of a hallway was open a crack. We pushed it open around 3 AM and there were a bunch of guys drinking and smoking and playing cards. It could have been another part of the hotel, but I thought that's where we saw them. This was about 20 years ago, so my memory could be fuzzy.

Yeah, it's pretty strange that they changed the name for the episode. They do embrace the the haunting claims, so it's weird they changed it on here. My best guess is that the show wanted it to look like a traditional "hotel" when the Lemp is actually a bed and breakfast with few rooms.

Like I said before, I worked there for two years, and I can say that the place is definitely legit.
