Why was it necessary for him to make out with his own niece? There was no need for it and it was creepy as all hell. It was even worse that they left you thinking he had played tonsil hockey with his own daughter before you find out it was *just* his niece.

Hollywood often does have a strange way of making people forget what reality actually looks like (looking at you, Nolan). Then when a movie tries to show reality, audiences don't know how to recognize it.
On the bright side, at least Duvall was nominated for a Golden Globe for The Judge (not bad for a supposed flop).

shareI consider it a cautionary tale when you live in a small town and continue to raise children their whole lives in the same small town, you probably shouldn't play around with paternity. Otherwise your kids will end up unintentionally dating their own cousins, half siblings, uncles/aunts, etc.
