Ideas for Fixing 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

First off, the only villain should be Electro. I found his motivation to be a little weak so we're changing it. The improved version is that Max Dillon is poor and is struggling to take care of his dying mother, whom he loves very much. At his job as Oscorp, he is treated like dirt and works overtime a lot though he still isn't paid what he needs to properly take care of his mother.

As a result, he has a lot of repressed rage hidden beneath his shy demeanor. We see this through several violent fantasies he has throughout the film before he gains his powers. While he looks up to Spider-Man despite all the negative media surrounding him, he isn't a fanatic like he is in the actual film and he doesn't talk to himself.

When Max becomes Electro, we get a scene where he brings his violent fantasies to reality by killing his higher-ups who treated him so badly, and he kills more people in general now to vent his anger at the world.

During their various encounters, Peter tries to help Electro, and realizes that Electro is like a distorted version of himself if he kept using his spider powers for personal gain. Peter tells Electro that he can use his powers to help people and that with great power comes great responsibility, but Electro decides that humanity isn't worth helping.

Also, Electro begs for Spider-Man to help his mother and while Peter does help by using his reputation as Spider-Man to administrate her to a hospital either for free or with a large discount, she dies after Electro breaks out of Ravencroft to visit her. As a result, he blames Spider-Man and this is why he kills Gwen.

However, one difference is that when Gwen dies, Peter goes nuts and fights Electro ferociously, eventually catching him and beating him to within an inch of his life before regaining his senses. This is just another reason why he quits being Spider-Man for several months.

We'll still have Harry and the sub-plot about him having a genetic illness, but he doesn't turn into the Green Goblin just yet and doesn't ask for Spidey's blood. We'll save that for the third movie. Aleksei Sytsevich is in the beginning of the film as an easter egg, but nothing more, and he will not appear as the Rhino in the ending scene.

The final change is the ending scene. If you look online, you'll find an alternate ending to the movie where Peter's dad returns. Why Sony didn't keep that, I'll never know. After that, Peter listens to Gwen's speech and returns to being Spider-Man after months of absence, and the final shot is of him web swinging to stop a bank robbery.
