Despite of what everybody says...

I had a lot of fun with this movie. A LOT. Especially when I first saw it in the theatre.

Now I agree with critics that this script is a stinker, I really do hate the script. But I thought Marc Webb evolved a lot as a director from the boring first film. The only thing I do prefer from the first film over this one is the score.

Action scenes especially. The movie just has this epic sense of scale that the first one didnt have. Now I know that the first movie didnt try to be big. It tried to be this intimate story about Peter Parker. But I just thought that it was a reboot with barelly anything to add of newness.

Now getting back to ASM2, I do love this version of Harry Osbourne. Electro didnt feel like a waste because Jamie Foxx actually cared. I do think it was too easy of the scipt to suddenly put him and Spidey as enemies. But I did buy that because they just construct Electro as this completely insane guy. Again, more of an example of a weak script. But it worked! At least for me.

Anyway I thought overall this movie was much more effective than the first and dare I say it, more effective than Homecoming.

I completely agree. Spider-Man's fight with Electro in Times Square was intense, though it's a shame that Electro had to have a silly motive. If they had just cut a number of subplots and kept the world-building to a minimum, it could have been a really good Spider-Man film. Then, again, I am glad Spider-Man is in the MCU.

The mistake of the film was having two important villains. They introduce Osborn in it just so fans don't get pissed if the villain that killed Gwen in the comic ends up not killing her in live action. But in order to have more tension you have to build up the villain. In the comics it works so well because the goblin had been around for so long. Stan Lee really built up for that moment. Now I know it wasnt Lee who killed Gwen. But Conwey just chose the best option for a villain. Now in my opinion if youre gonna do a Gwens death storyline, I think the killer shouldve been the Lizard.

I agree the movie had one too many villains, but it still relates with what I said that the movie had too subplots; one of which was Harry Osborne's corporate feud with the board. What I would have done is kept Electro as the central villain and build up Peter and Harry's friendship. They should flesh out their friendship for one movie instead of relying on the audience's pre-knowledge of their relationship from the Raimi films and the comics to fill in the details. Maybe, he and Peter could team up together to defeat Electro? Then, I would have Harry turn into the Goblin for the third film and kill Gwen.
