This is an addictive show and with pretty good episodic cliffhangers. Just started the 11th episode of the first season.
My only complaint is too many of the characters are pretty unlikeable. And I would have to look to see if Showtime's The Affair was before this one because in some ways the two shows are similar.
Overspel or The Adulterer was BEFORE The Affair. And it is much much better. Very addictive. Great leads and locations because it’s in Amsterdam.
I think The Affair stole a lot from this series in terms of the casting, sex scenes, similar characters and situations, but The Affair went into a completely different direction. Overspel series stuck with the one affair which is a true love affair + organized crime of all things.
I’m not sure but it looks like by the way the fans hated the affair (of The Affair), it’s possible the US can’t tolerate a story with infidelity. Which is a huge problem. Fans hated it. Whereas the Dutch were able to tell this story and steer it to a normal conclusion without forcing the husband and wife back together for the “happy ending.”
