Just discovered this show

Caught an episode during their marathon run and I think I'm hooked. Even though I hate most reality tv because it's staged and the drama is hyped up for television, I'm loving this stuff. Next time I visit NYC I'm heading into Obscura. I can't decide what's more fascinating, the things for sale or the customers buying them. And Laura, the model/mortician/clothing designer? Wow, she is probably one of the most fascinating people I've seen on television in quite a while. Get her her own show.

I just found this, too, and watched a couple of episodes. I am hoping I can catch more. This kind of stuff is amazing, and I agree that the customers/shop regulars are just as fascinating (and often hilarious...I don't know his name, but there's the strange guy with the beard and round glasses who was talking about his collections talking to him at night). Brilliant.

I love this show, it's so different than anything that's on TV right now... I watch it every Friday. Laura is definitely interesting - one of a kind, for sure.

I just encountered this show for the first time today, and I am thunderstruck! What a wonderful thing!

And, for my two cents, I find Evan amazingly hot. Can't get enough of her. Kind of a Kari Byron for middle-aged collectors.

I find Evan really cool, sort of an older reformed goth, much like myself. We probably listen to a lot of the same music and such.

Laura, she is a beautiful weirdo. I feel she is more acting a part than anything else, but still, pretty bloody wonderful.

reply

Wouldn't Evan be considered pre-goth? I think she predated goth by about 30 years.

I am absolutely in love with this show. I was watching Conan a few nights ago, Mike and Evan were on showing off a few of their little curio items and the clip they showed had me enamored. There's a marathon today and I have absolutely found a show that I will watch religiously. I love all of the eccentric people they have on the store and the little cool tchotkes some of the people bring in.

I thought Laura was morbidly attractive. She said at one point she was a model.

Agreed. She is quite beautiful. She looks like something Tim Burton dreamed up.

More like Tim Curry from Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I just discovered it too! I'm watching the replay of that marathon on the Science Channel. The people and items that come in and out of that shop are so strange and interesting; together, an irresistible combination. Fascinating is definitely the right word for it. I can't believe I never watched this show before now. You're right about Laura; she's stunning. Now I really wish I lived in New York.

I caught a couple of the episodes on demand through Comcast the other day. What a strange but interesting shop. The characters that come in are unique, like the lady that makes things out of fingernails and belly button lint! Very bizarre.

I'm not into skulls and bones but some of those creations (like the chandeliers) are cool.

I love this show & I am determined to go to New York & buy something from them, plus Ryan is kinda hot to me.
