Best scene of the show (what's yours)

This is my favourite:

But I'm sure I forgot a lot of excellent stuff. What's your favourite scene?

reply

My favorite is the scene where Sloane eviscerates Bree the webpage guy. Or when Will finds out Mac was in the auditorium with the piece of paper in the pilot.

reply

When Sloane put Bree on the spot, I kept replaying that scene. Seeing how journalism has devolved into blogging, op-ed pieces, and even fake news, broadcasting someone's location is pitiful. Anyone who thinks that journalistic integrity can be replaced with citizens journalism needs to watch that scene.

Not sure if it is my favorite, but the one that always comes to mind is the sequence at the end of the episode where Giffords was shot culminating with Don's comment about a doctor pronounces a person dead, not the news

reply

Yep. That's the one. A LOT of phenomenal/memorable scenes in this series, but that one tops the list!

"What else do you like? Lazy? Ugly? Horny? I got 'em all."
"You don't look lazy."

reply

Ohhh yes! Good one! And Will's response to Don and then him just saying "Okay but we're back in 10" then walking away. Powerful scene and funny.

~~~"Who do you think you're dealing with? Guess again."~~~
I loved the entire episode where Sloan, Don and Elliot were "trapped" in the airplane when Bin Laden was killed. They wanted to do so many things, yet somehow they had to be trapped there. Probably one of my favorite episodes, albeit not rated very high in imdb
If I had to speak of specific scenes: (if they're blacked they contain possible spoilers) Charlie's death
Will and Mac's wedding
Coach scene (people wanting to offer Will money as well)
and generally all the solidarity scenes. These people were a team and stood behind each other every time things were going the wrong way.
The Giffords shooting remains a goosebumper for me each and every time I watch it. Every single thing about it: Coldplays "Fix you" as the score and where the guitar picks up alomg with the concerned and hopeful suspense the Giffords was alive, Reese barging into the studio and Don's perfect line about a doctor, and not the news, pronouncing one dead, a little too much "f-ing" when Charlie and Mac come back to the studio and they agree to defy Leonna but hell emotions were running high, and "just breathe regular Joey" like they were talking to me.
Airplane scene with Bin Laden announcement is great too with the pilots and Dons realization of who and what they represent.
Wills hostorical ironies were awesome as well. Oh and Sloan beating the crap out of the d-bag who had posted pictures of her. Great stuff
That episode is my favorite as well. My favorite scene from that episode is when they find the email from Biden telling them that the news was finally reportable.
Will : Okay, not tonight, but in days to come, you'll look back at this moment & think it was funny.
Mac : Its from 20 minutes ago.
Will : heh, I know.
Charlie : what's it say?
Mac : OBL reportable. Knock em dead just like we did.
Charlie : Who's it from?
Mac : Joe Biden!!
Charlie : ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!
There are so many to chose from but I have to go with the scene where Will removes the picture of him and his dad from his prison wall and we realize just who he's been talking to all this time. It made me feel like watching the entire scene over again in order to catch all the subtleties.
Mine has to be the pilot. When Will started on his rant, I was hooked and knew I would never miss a minute of the series from then on. I also liked when Jim was on the tour bus. It's hard to pick a favorite, as I have a fave from every episode, but it was the pilot that made all the rest possible.
reply
I agree with you about the pilot. The moderator finally goads Will into a "real answer" and he just unloads a really horrifying stream of statistics (which grow more horrific daily). Then he runs out of steam and starts musing almost to himself "We used to be...". I miss my Dad every day. He was a Marine Raider with a Bronze Star and a 2 Purple Hearts. He came back, used his GI Bill, went to college, them started a business that contracted with NASA. I didn't know until after he died that he was 40% disabled and donated his check to local organizations that help Vets. I am so glad he didn't live to see the hot mess we are in now.
I really like the blackout episode, when Mac gives her speech encouraging the staff and planning the show.
I also like Leona's speech in The 112th Congress. Specifically, the Jesus and Moses story, and how she ends the conversation by stating that she love's her job and asking Charlie, "Do you wanna play golf or do you wanna *beep* around."
Sloans speech about the debt ceiling about how you need to give the people time to jam the lines at the district office, so they can tell congressmen to pay back our debts or you're fired.
My favorite has got to be one of Will's conversations with Nina (that blonde gossip columnist that he fought with occasionally early on in the show).
I think it's when they first meet at that party and Nina says, "Are we going to go back to flirting or are you just going to keep putting me down?"
And Will replies, "I'm not trying to put you down, I'm just saying that what you do is a really bad form of pollution that makes us dumber and meaner and is destroying civilization." 
Obv the opening rant that got me to watch the show
