Joely Richardson is too old for Brenda, and Zoe Wanamaker is much too old for Magda. I believe Gabriel Byrne is Roger. My guess is Zoe Wanamaker will play his wife, Clemency, and Joely Richardson will play Magda.

I do like your suggestion re Liam Neeson as Phillip, however. Though it would be a bit odd for him to play opposite his sister-in-law. And as for Aristides, we mustn't forget how short he is supposed to be.
