Final Shootout Query! Spoilers*

Can someone offer me an explanation?

Ethan shoots Iris with his gun which contains blanks as we see she has a concealed squib as part of the grift she reveals to Xavier.

Later as things become pear - shaped, Foley uses Ethan as a shield takes Ethan's gun and shoots Xavier's body guard ...with a gun loaded with blanks?

Is there another explanation other than the lame... Foley knew he had a spare gun holstered away?

reply

Well Ethan was a pretty cold and calculating guy, he was a total A hole but he seemed pretty smart as well. So my guess is that he had a blank in the chamber and packed the rest of the clip with real bullets just incase sh!t went down (and it did-lol).

Yours is the first response in over a year, so perhaps that is an indication that this scene has got people scratching their heads.

You could be right. But there needed to be some lead up exposition to let us in to what might happen. As it stands I reckon the whole thing is pretty dumb.

Yeah that's about the only conclusion I could come up with but it very well could have been a goof, hard to say. I don't know about u but I really liked the film until about that scene, it just seemed kind of sloppy and unguided after that.

I haven't seen the film for over a year, but I remember that "shoot out" left overall hollow feelings for me about the film, which did from memory, have quite a few similarities to the Korean film "Old Boy".

reply

Yeah I've seen some people saying the same thing on a few posts regarding the similarities of Old Boy and this film, some saying it was a rip off even. I actually have only seen some of Old Boy myself although it's on my list because I've heard it's quite good. So many movies so little time. Lol
