the ending
I just watched this movie that I thought was interesting but I'm not sure I understand the ending. Was his son cloned or was william remembering his son?

shareJust finished watching it and wondering the same. I think he must have cloned his son so they could really go back to how things were?
shareThat was my take on it as well.

interesting, I just assumed it was a memory.. 15 months seemed a bit fast to me to get away and settled in a new life and set up a new clandestine cloning lab and get living results. Also seemed strange that his wife, uh Jewels?, would buy into that. Also, knowing the demonstrated track record of clones.. tumors, blindness, death.. I couldn't see them wanting to do that to themselves. Bring their 'son' back into their lives for a bit, knowing the health degradation that would soon take him right back out of their lives.
Spoiler alerts you dipsticks!!!
sharePle-aze!!! The goddamned post's title is "the ending" and you come in and complain about spoilers? What were you expecting to read there, lyrics from the Ellie Goulding song? Jeez!!!!

How many Williams do you think there actually was? I assumed there had to be some failures prior to actually making one that was acceptable.
shareI don't think there can be more than one more clone, because they said four samples of the cloning serum were stolen and there were three clones accounted for.
William cloned himself, and then the clone made a clone of itself - and they apparently cloned the son too, leaving just one more vial of serum.
The ending scene was labeled "15 months later."
Clearly the couple decided to create one of the fast-developing clones William's lab had been developing, but that was an odd choice. Not only will they miss his babyhood, but he'll be an adult before long. Plus, without a living precursor, there would be no memories to extract and import into the clone's mind, like William did with his own clones. The fast-growing child would suddenly be 6 again with no memories of his earlier life.

Yes! Good points!
Clones in movies are magical constructs that do what is needed to be done.

I instantly assumed that the child's father was Proxy 9. That would explain the rapid development of the child since Proxy 9 was created with the growth agent that was being developed by Next Corp (your DNA is everywhere).
Anyone else have any thoughts on this angle?
