I was wondering that too. Guess no one knows.

Initially, i was thinking Eng v Aus cricket drama, but looking at the cast, i'm thinking i might be wide of the mark...

That said, stick a beard on Ray Winstone and he would make a reasonably convincing Mike Gatting, now i think about it (i'm kidding)

Ray Winstone talks a little about the film on this clip.

He looks like he's dropped a little weight too. Glad to see that because I am hoping he does some more physical roles before the years catch up with him. Ray's one of my favorite British "tough guy" actors.

This film has been premiered at Cambridge Film Festival yesterday (23/09/2012). Their synopsis is:
Frank (Ray Winstone) is confined to a residential home, stricken with Alzheimer's, past, present and future steadily disintegrating. Then, one day, James (Jim Sturgess) appears, wanting to reconnect with a father who no longer knows him. James springs Frank from the home, and the pair go on the run. As their haphazard journey unfolds – funny, violent and tragic by turns – the present merges with imperfect memories of the past, and fact with fiction, and we begin to realise that nothing is quite what it seems. Director of ROAD TO GUANTANAMO, THE SHOCK DOCTRINE, and Ian Dury biopic SEX & DRUGS & ROCK & ROLL, Whitecross – a graduate of Revolution Films – follows in mentor Michael Winterbottom's eclectic footsteps by tackling yet another new genre. But ASHES itself defies neat categorisation; part road movie, part psychological thriller, part contemporary film noir, but all beautifully shot, and with a grimly satisfying twist.

I enjoyed the film - thought it was going to be a predicatable "mental hospitals are bad - medication is bad - bonding of father and son" but it was more complicated than that.

No but the plot summary spoilt the movie for me.
