*Spoiler Alert* What happened to the daughter?

**Spoiler Alert**

In the cave at the end of the movie Alais' daughter's life is threatened but then it is spared. The daughter runs out of the cave and to her critically injured father who promptly gives up his cloak to the shivering child to help keep her warm. That's the last we see of her as her father then joins Alais in the cave. I can only guess where she went or if she survived at all because there is no mention of her destination in the version that I saw. Where did she go?

reply

She had to have survived, because Alice Tanner is descended from Alais, and the little girl
was the only child of Alais; therefore, she had to have survived and had children, in order
for Alice to be a descendant of Alais.

Yes, obviously she survived, that's a given, but my question is what happened to her after her father entered the cave? What did she do? We don't know. That she ultimately survived isn't the issue. I consider it a loose end and an oversight to not include her in the denouement (since she was important to the story) without at the very least a representation or a montage of how she made it back to civilisation or was found by friendly travelers. Anything... Maybe it played out differently in the novel and maybe some people don't think that it's unusual for a young teen girl to be stranded in the wilderness by the story tellers since we know that eventually she grew up. There are so many things that can go wrong for an adult lost in the wilderness let along a young girl, like predators or slips and falls, or dozens of other conflicts. 'They' could have given her character proper closure in less than 30 seconds. 'They' just blatantly left her in the wilderness amongst all the dead bodies to fend for herself. Certainly she must have waited for hours for her father and mother to come out of the cave before she ultimately gave up. I just think that it's sloppy film making. We should have at least seen her walking away towards the sunset or something equally benign. I did, however, enjoy the mini-series despite the questionable ending.

Well, my answer was mainly in response to this part of your first post:

or if she survived at all

As for the rest - I don't know, maybe the script writers thought it would be more dramatic
to just leave off with her being left in that situation; a child alone in the wilderness, at the
mercy of the elements, and of possible / probable predators? Sort of a cliffhanger ...

I honestly have no idea ... maybe there's supposed to be a sequel, which would address that
issue, and show us more details as to how she survived, where she went, the rest of her life,
etc.

i think it's pretty obvious that the potion maker's grandson (who later became John Hurt) took care of the daughter. my question is what happened to the books in 2013???
