Saw Movie This Weekend And Won't Be Seeing It Again

Ok. I'm going through all the so-called 'award nominated movies' of last year because I want to see what the so-called 'experts' think are the best movies. If you look at my post history, you know I only watch the best of the best.

Well I saw this movie and was pretty shocked by most of it. First of all, I only remember Helen Hunt from Mad About You, As Good as It Gets, and Cast Away. In those shows/movies, she came across as very conservative. When her shirt got wet in As Good As It Gets, she gets all nervous about showing too much.

Well I guess things changed! She either needs the money, is not getting scripts, or just doesn't G.A.F. I would say I admire her 'bravery' but let's get cereal: being nude AND brave aren't even close. Brave is going on the battlefield, running towards enemy fire when you are out of ammo, and rescuing one of your fallen soldiers. Not sure what this nudity was about.

The movie could have easily been more tasteful and just showed her rear or at most her chest once or twice. The nudity didn't bother me but seemed way too forced and over the top.

What is she trying to prove anyways? They should have gotten a hotter actress if they were going that route. No wonder this movie only made $6 million.

I gave movie 7/10.

(P.S. not sure how you win a best actor award for lying down on your back for 90 minutes lol)

Just because a woman CHOOSES to bare her body for an Art, does not make her desparate in the way you described, automatically. Yes, she is Brave. There are many definitions of "brave". To compare this to war is just ridiculous, because that is not the context of "brave" people are speaking of ....

And regarding your comments about her body....do people only wish to see certain parts of YOU?, I have to wonder? Couldn't you handle a real body?, no matter if it isn't "hot" in your opinion? Geeeeeeez....grow up!

I gave movie 7/10.

In the real world, 7 of 10 is a good grade. In the mathematically-challenged world of imdb, it is for true turds.

A woman approaching her 50s (paunch, small boobs) will do almost anything to get a gig.

I wonder if the guy actor got an erection during filming?

Helen Hunt has never been "Conservative". Just to point that out. Guess you never got around to seeing "The Waterdance". She is a Liberal artist and will do what she finds interesting and important. These are people that can not be held back by "Conservative" social stigmas that wish to demonize and judge others. And you are yet another individual who did NOT get the message of this film. Did you even watch it?

And your idea of "bravery" is ignorant. You can only be brave if you are doing the right thing and know why you are doing what you're doing. Fighting on a battlefield while not knowing why or not questioning why is not bravery. That is being a mindless robot that takes orders in blind faith. Humankind would certainly be in a poor way if every one did this. And there is a name for it too...FASCISM! Bravery is doing what is right not taking orders in blind faith. Especially when said orders are concerning something which is unjust and unnecessary.

I really think that she was indeed brave to be a part of this movie. If you look at movies (or telling a message through a narrative) as an art form, than for me, the nudity was necessary to better understand Mark's perspective on nudity and sex.

I personally was quite touched by this movie, I thought it was beautiful and have more respect for Helen Hunt because she was brave(!) because she was willing to show her body (amazing btw) to tell this humble and touching story.
