Stellar series finale

A definite 10/10 for me. The show brought back every character we've seen throughout the series and delivered the perfect blend of sentiment, action, and laughs. I'm glad that there's finally an animated series with a proper finale!

(The only possible downside ((spoiler)) may have been that the memory loss issue was resolved too quickly.)

As sad as it is that Gravity Falls is over, I'm glad Alex Hirsch completed it the way he wanted. Thoughts?

I agree with the whole being resolved too quickly and really so easy, but it was great, the credits was the best! Especially the (SPOILER).... Super creepy Bill Cipher moment, but I loved it, that was an awesome ending, now to go and solve the cryptogram!

As the Handle implies...................

Saw roughly 90 something percent will catch up but what I missed I got the gist off the ep

(Spoilers)

The symbol at the half way point seems to suggest that this was gonna be a two parter possibly hints to another another season?

Yes the ressurection of Stan's Mind was to quick . It could have been gradual passing with a massive memory coming back as the Mystery Twins leave
'
Pacifica's family should have been McGucket's new servants (They would be living in the house so to speak)

Question the amber dino's did they free them or us their use body parts?

And for those who did not want it to end

Look at it this way look at other shows animated and otherwise that have been drawn out......This got an ending with a possible sequel?

As to the show itself again as my handle implies I think "someone" on the network staff did not like this show as much as others and he/she used their influence to end it.

Least it had a dignified one

And who know maybe in a few years some one just might resurrect the show

(maybe an IMDB member who just might get a break in the bussiness wish I could say that)

How many Batman adaptaions My Little Pony different James Bonds etc have we had since IMDB was created?

who is to say that the Mystery Twins will not return each summer

and in en years we'll find out Dipper's name (unless I missed that)and he and Wendy

Pl;us what about that BIG Spaceship The aliens in the human robot?

It was a good run

and thats my two cents for now

It was a double episode (hence it being called Weirdmageddon 3 & 4). The thing in the middle was the middle of the episode most likely, and these will probably be split into two 30 minute episodes when it is replayed in the future.

Besides the memory loss issue being resolved so quickly, I had a couple other downsides to the finale:

1. When Stanley prevents them from finishing the circle that would have stopped Bill at that point.

I really HATE when shows do something like this

* Great! Problem Solved
* Whoops! One person messed it up! Guess we have to continue the show to find a new solution!

To me, that always seems just a cliche way of making the show continue.

2. After all Bill has done and been hyped up has, the way he was defeated seemed way too easy to me.

Besides that, I really enjoyed it.

Looove the show . So sad it's gone. My son even cried ( and that isn't common for him to do )!

Concerning the Quickinening of Stan's memory , I think it was a PERFECT way of doing it.. Showing the scrapbook and reliving the episodes we watched was a really nice touch.

Stan not holding hands in the Circle would normally seem like a convinent way to extend the episode but again it works. Think of it this way. The brothers mirror Dipper and Mabel, EXCEPT they didn't have the respect those two had. So it makes perfect sense for them to fight.... Only when they finally gained acceptance of one another did they BECOME Dipper and MABEL.

This is why my wife gets annoyed with a guy she married who has a B.A in Media Theory and Criticism!

The only thing missing were the two Dipper clones that drove away on Robbie's bike in "Double Dipper."

And did you notice Soos's girlfriend behind the counter after he took over running the Mystery Shack?

Did the sheriff and the deputy come out?

reply

I loved how they included the Dipper clones in the end credits.

reply

Oh wow, I missed them the first time around! Yep, there they were, Dipper 3 and 4, sitting in a tent, toasting marshmallows and wisely staying out of the rain!

reply

The feels are real, the y are very real indeed.

also, no dipper/pacifica nonsense, take that how you want to.

The latter part of the finale was as it should've been. But the Weirdmageddon thing had gone on for too many episodes. So it going on for too long in this episode just felt like time filler. If they'd made the defeat of Bill happen sooner, they could've spent more time reminiscing in order to get Stan's memory back.

The series began with fun adolescent stuff with mysteries mixed in. With weirdmageddon it just got too weird and wasn't fun anymore. It lost what had made it great to begin with. But the ending was done very well.

I agree, a 10! You have to watch it multiple times to catch everything Alex included, including the credits. He handled the Stan memory loss by indicating time had passed since Bill's defeat.

I do think Alex Hirsch decided to end the show on a high note, I think he saw how P&F was run into the ground, taken over by others and the finale pitiful. Disney XD ran P&F and GF finales back to back today, no comparison.

Did anyone decode the ending cyphers? It may hold a clue to any future episodes but Dipper's note certainly did.

Alex and his twin are both A's so what do you think Dipper's real name is? Mark, Matt, Mike? Dipper instead of Mikey would make sense.

Alex is moving on to Fox, P&F creators have stayed with Disney creating a Mikey Murphy Law show, let's see who strikes gold again, my bet is with Alex! Great Job Alex, I will miss Dipper and Mabel but you are spot on pulling the show on your timetable. If you can, bring them back leading into their 14th or 15th birthday it would be great, any older, Wendy and the crew will have graduated high school and it wouldn't be the same. Thank you Alex for a great 40 episodes!!
