Just opened in Seattle / My thoughts.

I'd ne-ver e-ver fall for this sort of person, and his or her advice, because I am neither that gullible nor that impressionable, period.

But, assuming I DID (fall for all the Hooey) I'd be plenty P.O.'d knowing I'd been duped!

I loved this film , thought it was funny but also felt sorriest for Kumare's "followers". Also, I'm wondering aloud how so many of them could have stayed loyal to him even after being so snookered.

Part of the answer may lie in the modesty and humility that he displayed when he "revealed himself". However, one may wonder how sincere this modesty and humility actually are.

Well, I thought the reveal was sincere, to be honest with you ... I mean, he had to come clean, didn't he?

I think people are seeing what they want to see in the film:

-if you're a "dupper" then you would get PO'ed and storm out with the yoga instructor*

-if you're a "guru" then you would stand and clap and love the man standing in front of you*

*both these positions put the viewer in the privileged position of being completely sure they are right in their assessment and response, and a little (just a little!) superior to viewers who think differently.

In my perception of this, a question one might ask is...what things do I believe to be true, might not be?

Is the absolute test of truth, that which can be verified and confirmed by repeatable, reproducible, cross-referenced, tangible evidence?

Or is it that you're not as open and as trusting as his "followers"?

Nope.
