Actually, not bad at all. In fact it is pretty good

Plot's fine, play is just about great, on times it's dragging along, but the ending nails it.
It seems like a rather decent ol school brit movie you won't regret seeing.

I don't see how people are hating it, It was original & was entertaining enough. I'm glad I watched it before coming here so I wasn't polluted by the rating, which should be at least 3 points higher.

Eh.... No... I think 3.7 is a fair enough rating.
This movie started off promising... But then I felt it kind of just turned into a rehash of the film Alien, with a ghost instead of... Well, an alien... (Dark enclosed place w/flashing lights, "something" pickin' off the characters one by one... Etc) Which didn't make this film all that original... To me, anyhow.

It was entertaining... I'm not sorry I watched it, and I would see it again... I was never bored... But it is what it is: A mediocre horror movie.

Please note... I'm not "hating it..."

But "Stormhouse" just ain't all that.

Trust me,

My, you're nosey, aren't you?

Well Alien was a unique take on the already worn out haunted house theme.

I found it unwatchable. This was a rare case where I couldn't even finish the film because it was SO dark you couldn't even see what was going on. I thought it was my eyesight or my TV, but after reading some of the reviews I found I wasn't the only one. And why were those headquarters (where such an ambitious experiment is being held) so dark & cheap looking? I understand the principle behind good atmosphere in horror films but this was ridiculous. The lead actress, once she arrives at this location, spent too much time smiling like a cheerleader. Couldn't her character perceive the exagerated oppresiveness of that place & the hostility & fear of its occupants right away? It made her look like an idiot (granted, this was probably due to the script &/or the way she was directed).
I had to laugh when the film started with the line about being based on true events. It was all downhill from there.
Some reviewer went all google-eyed over it saying that this movie was completely original, that he had never seen anything like it. He must have been born last week. It has been done before & better (even on a lower budget).
Watch SHADOWZONE from 1990, directed by J.S. Cardone (who made one of my favorite terror films - THE SLAYER - which I love because of the atmospherics). SHADOWZONE is about a subterranean-held sleep experiment that unleashes a murderous being.

Oh well...there's always a new horror film around the corner.

Happy Halloween.

It was an intriguing idea and competently made on a low budget, but ultimately it was a bit dull. They were restricted to an invisible antagonist, which required some acting skills and characterization that just wasn't there. Nothing really creepy apart from the idea. As you say, it dragged over an hour and a half of unclear story and acting, confined to a small dark location.

I didn't really understand where/why this was supposed to take place. The scene with the 'haunted basketball' near the end was almost comical, followed by the only scene I liked - the explanation of how they captured a 'spirit', which was actually quite good.

I think the IMDB rating is more than fair!

Same here. Enjoyed it a lot. Gave it a six. The actors were perfect, the characters perfectly believable, plot good, story good, original to a large extent. I can only think of two others that it even resembles. Maybe three.

I liked it. The ending was great! Took me by surprise.

I thought this was a dull boring tedious movie. It started out pretty good. But after a half hour it began to bore me. Everything in the dark, the dialogue sometimes not clear. I also didn't understand the ending. as some people posted they were surprised by the ending. What was the surprise? Just a mediocre horror film IMHO.

I quite liked the movie. I don't know why the rating is low. Very well done & I liked the plot & script.

I don't need no *beep* signature!

I quite liked it up until the last half hour. It sort of fell apart quickly.

Also while most of the actors were quite good, the female lead was kind of up and down and towards the end she was over-acting and destroying the believability of the situation.

It was a decent enough movie, but that last 30 minutes really ruined it for me. Before that, I was pretty much hooked.
