Pleasantly Surprised. Much better than expected.

First knock against Stitch is that it stars the notorious Edward Furlong, whose only truly great role was as a kid in Terminator 2 - all the way back in 1991! Since then he's turned into a complete has-been joke. The typical child actor turned druggie burn-out. As such, I was expecting this movie to scrape the absolute bottom of B-Movie hell and streamed it only for a laugh. Wanted to reverse my click based on some of the reviews here but already paid, so what the heck...

So imagine my surprise when Furlong not only turns in a solid performance, but does so in a movie that's actually pretty damn good!

Makes me wonder if other users really watched the whole thing through or just trolled here after seeing the cover art with Furlong's name.

Movie is low budget for sure. It even starts off with what looks like standard cliches. But then it turns into something completely original and visually stunning (to the limits of it's limited budget). The style ever so slightly echoes David Lynch but with a thriller tempo. The story is bizarre and surreal but ultimately makes sense. There is a plot twist but it's not just pulled out of thin air. Looking back, the clues were there throughout. There were parts that I actually found scary and I'm pretty jaded from horror movies. I think it was the weird nature of some of the imagery that got me.

This is a Very Good B-Movie. It could have been a Good A-Movie if they had money for a name cast and production elements.

Furlong's still a burn-out. But the man can definitely act when he's in the right story.
