Really Surprised By This Board!

Huge fan of Conan, and I've been to a taping of the old Late Night show and I saw the tour in AC, and I really enjoyed it, and I liked the movie a lot too, because it was interesting to see what was behind the scenes.

But I came on the board, and was pretty surprised by what everyone is saying! I mean, I don't care if your opinion is different from mine, but I just perceived so much differently. When I saw him at Late Night, he came out before the show and up into the audience and shook hands and even invited this kid to play Max's drums haha. And when I saw him in Atlantic City, he played two shows back to back (I'm not sure if he did this at all the stops?) and at the end of the show, he came into the crowd and took pictures and shook hands with as many people that he could, saying "Thank you for coming" for about 10 minutes. AFTER the show.

(And FYI, if anyone is curious why he said he didn't like the crowd in AC for the first show, it's because it was at the Borgota, who gave a bunch of tickets to their "high rollers", which is very common, but they weren't Conan's fans, and a lot of them left halfway and stuff. Luckily they only gave them for the first show and he addressed it in the second show.)

Anyway, knowing all that, and then seeing how all those people would come in and talk to him after and THEN in NYC he went out and talked to MORE people (especially ones who are being dicks and taking pictures after he asked them not to), I can see how anyone would be tired and maybe say some things that aren't so nice, but I don't think he was as terrible as a lot of people are saying??

He's not that bad. You can tell for the most part he's a good guy! And yes he did do this tour to keep his people employed. He could have acted a little more gracious, not complaining about meeting people ON CAMERA and I'm not sure why that was put in the movie. Makes me the think the director got mad at him.....or, if Conan was in charge of the movie, then for some reason he was okay with himself looking a little ungrateful by complaining about meeting people. I don't know! Is it explained somewhere?

Love me some Waltons

This interview touches on the topic a little bit: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/11/a-documentary-reveals-the-dark-side-of-conan-obrien/?_r=0

I think it was a consious decision to include scenes that showed a side of Conan that nobody outside his inner circle had seen before. This movie doesn't show a bad person, it shows a human being. Considering all the stress and frustration he was dealing with at the time, Conan was extremely polite and friendly to all those people.
