Show doesn't work as well since we don't know all the rules

I'm with the people complaining that the show would be better if they were clearer on what the rules are.

I don't understand why the detectives didn't call Cindy (the boss, I think that's her name) at home. They tried the work number from the cell phone logs and then never was able to talk to her. It should be fairly easy for them to get her last name and then a home number or her address. Unless it's in the rules, I don't see why they wouldn't try calling her at home or visiting her at home. Since they think the guys hid the briefcase before they got to the cupcake place, that one phone call is all they really had to go off of and they didn't really try other than leaving one message for her.

Unless the show just didn't show us any of that because the producers thought the guys breaking down and crying was more entertaining.

Watching the four episode and reading the FAQ you can piece together most of the rules. The players have a pretty huge advantage if they just keep their cool and stay calm.

Because they didn't have that number. They just had the number from the cell-phone records.

They certainly could have. The detectives can do almost anything they want.

Yup. The detectives and interrogators were at a complete loss this week and were never even close to finding it. It's like they weren't even trying.
