Suggestions for more British shows...

I could go on and on forever, but "Cold Feet" (three couples in various stages of their relationships) was a comedy-drama really worth watching.

Recently, I am also in love with "Mount Pleasant" - s1 ended last year and they're gearing up for s2 in August of this year.

"Starlings" is just starting up (as of 5/10) but the presence of Lesley Sharpe tells me it's worth seeing.

"Fat Friends" (also starring the beautiful Ruth Jones) is very similar in flavor to "Stella." Only the first three series are available on DVD, sad to say, though there is a fourth.

Only a start!

I suppose the obvious suggestion is "Gavin & Stacey" by the same writer. I also have a fondness for "Still Game" & "Rab C. Nesbitt"

I just discovered "Coupling" and loved it

Extras
The Office
The I.T Crowd
Gavin & Stacey
The Mighty Boosh

"Starlings" also has the same kind of family unity/sweetness as "Stella." I wouldn't recommend "The IT Crowd" or "Gavin & Stacey" or "The Mighty Boosh" to anyone looking for a gentle comedy/drama. Do better with "Miranda."

You dont want to miss " DOC MARTIN" and unlike Stella, which begins to decline in originality half way thru season 3, it stays good all the way thru season 6. Season 7 coming up soon.

These shows are in keeping with the vibe of Stella. Some more than others.

Doc Martin
Last Tango in Halifax
Death in Paradise
Monarch of the Glen
Call the Midwife
Kingdom
The Indian Doctor
The Detectorists
Trivia
William & Mary
You, Me and Them
Where the Heart is
Wild at Heart
Monday Monday
Cafe
Nighty Night
Gavin & Stacey
Gates

These shows can be found on either Hulu, Netflix or AcornTV. A few are on PBS. They're all quite enjoyable. Some are really addictive. Enjoy!

Not a British show, but an Australian one on Hulu that is excellent is "Offspring". And on Acorn, a New Zealand show."Nothing Trivial". Both are terrific.

Another good Australian one is Packed to the Rafters. If you like British shows like Stella, I think you'd like it. It's on Hulu.
