Smirnoff a premium vodka?

The show is obviously sponsored by Smirnoff but calling it premium is a long stretch.

@chipnauman,

I agree.

Smirnoff?

Premium?

Whatever floats your boat Taffer.

I once worked with Smirnoff vodka. It's not a top shelf vodka. But it's not vodka that you would find in the well or bottom shelf. It's a everyday vodka that's the top selling vodka in the world.

Smirnoff is owned by Diageo. Diageo has the money to spend and throw around. And I noticed that all the spirits that are used on the show are own by Diageo.

reply

Did Jon Taffer really call Smirnoff "premium"? It is the best-selling distilled spirit brand in the world, but isn't premium or top shelf.

reply

Just the concept of a vodka being "premium" is a little far fetched the only difference between makin ethanol and Vodka are the number of times you distill it and how you filter it

reply

I have no idea why it's so popular, there are at least 20 different vodkas that are far superior and half are less expensive, you want a really good bang for your buck try a bottle of Stolichinia the stuffs the bomb and pardon my spelling

There is nothing cheap about stoli.
I mean nothing.

The show is pretty much fake!!!!

reply

Stoli is not cheap. Stoli is what I drink at home. Smirnoff is what I load up on at the airport while waiting for flights. It's more than acceptable and doesn't break the bank.

reply

Stoli is the only Vodka I will drink. “Stoli Martini with a twist, straight up, shaken.”

reply

I saw the episode and thought wtf?

Why don't people realize that any and every brand that is featured in any reality show is the company that sponsors that show? That's the way it's always been and always will be. So any brand that is used or endorsed by the show and host BOUGHT that endorsement so it' OK to not belie anything they say about them. Lol

Gordon Ramsay's Masterchef show recommends WalMart steaks. Does anyone believe that Gordon Ramsay buys steaks from WalMart? Does anyone really believe that Taffer stocks his bar at home with the products he uses to these bars? Come on. Lol

Smirnoff is the booze they have to use. That's all.

I remember back in high school we used to go get TAKA Vodka, it was like $7.50 for a fifth, now that is bottom shelf vodka.

Do you ever get down on your hands and knees and thank God you have access to me and my dementia?

reply

Taaka is still a common budget vodka haha.

I barely remember drinking Wolfschmidt Vodka when I was in high school. The plastic 1.75 liter bottle costed about ten bucks. Wolfschmidt was originally made in Latvia. And they should have kept it there. A lot of people think Eastern Europeans make the best vodka. Maybe, but I guess they also have their lesser brands.

I was thinking the same thing! lol

I think someone else mentioned basically Vodka is Vodka is vodka and companies have done a great job in making Vodka, any Vodka a premium brand. They all taste the same, that is if you can taste it. Vodka is really so generic liquor stores use to put their store labels on it. Until somehow the companies that produce Vodka convinced young adults that certain Vodka's should cost more. Oh and that it should go into a Martini. Genius Advertisement. I remember Wolfshimdt, when I was a teenager (when it was legal to buy liquor at 18) and to tell you that truth I am not a Vodka drinker but you folks spending money for Grey Goose or Stoli are wasting it. It's the ethanol, the ethanol a potato and some flavoring to make it taste like something so you will even spend more money for it. lol

reply

Jon Taffer was ticked off when Y-Not III in Milwaukee ran out of Smirnoff. He knows who butters his bread.

reply

Its not "premium" the way you guys are thinking of it, its a popular drink with a high profit margin.
