Don't be a low hanging fruit, bro.

meh. I wouldn't say awful. It was pretty standard horror fare. not good, not terrible. Pell James did a pretty nice job considering there wasn't that much to work with. She really filled out the role.

It was decent. The execution of the reveal could have been a bit better in my opinion though. I'd give this movie a solid 6 (for a horror movie, that's good in my book).

reply

agreed it put my boyfriend to sleep...i was throwing the most ridiculous theories out at the end just for laughs! The movie was soooooooooooo slow even though I do enjoy slow burns....very stupid film, another decent idea ruined by terrible execution....

I appreciated the sort of natural acting by the couple as parents. So if the lady was a real person, that doesn't explain some of the supernatural or sudden sights and frights. I guess those you can say were because they were tired. How did the baby sitter die of mummification/dehydration if the lady was real? Could have swore that sort of thing happens in other onryo movies where that only happens after a scare from an onryo, but whatever. Those kitchen cabinets are awfully roomy, lots of space in there for crawling and other activities eh?
4 out of 10.
It did keep me watching and guessing, mediocre acting.

reply

hahaha yes most definitely- very roomy cabinets. It was my mistake for calling the film "terrible", it was bad, boring, and predictable but i have totally seen a lot worse.

***Minor Spoilers Below***

I gave it a 5/10. It was not good or bad but the biggest problem is that it was not scary in the least and the girl coming out of under the cabinet below the kitchen sink was a direct rip off from The Ring where the girl comes out of the TV.

I realize horror movies depend on characters doing stupid things but they should have called the police on several occasions.

Besides, if I was in that situation, I would move back o the city and put the house up for sale even though it seemed like neither of them ever worked.

reply

I thought it was bad too. It got a 4 from me. Acting was OK, but the cliche-filled scenario and cheap scares ruined it a lot. I'd say go for Sinister or Insidious instead if you hadn't seen them, they're much better.

reply

Big agree there --- "Insidious" and "Sinister" makes this movie look amateurish. "Insidious 2" opens Sept.13 ... cannot wait!
