It really isn't fair to attempt to divide people into two discrete categories - "Must have explosions" and "Must like foreign/ambiguous/art films." Plenty of people enjoy and can appreciate both. My favorite movies are Ghostbusters, Suspiria and Mother (I think that covers most bases). That being said, IMO this movie had a good but poorly executed idea. It's fine to have red herrings, but they have to be feasible within the context of the film's universe. I'm sorry, but a thin, frail woman dragging people into cupboards and magically appearing in two places at once (with a stolen baby) definitely suggests a supernatural element. It's not like there was a moment where her ability to do all these seemingly mystical things was explained (I dunno, a secret passageway or something). In the Sixth Sense, you can go back through the movie after the twist and everything fits. Dark Circles didn't bother to do that. It was lazy.
They're coming to get you, Barbara!
