Dreadful (spoilers)

The acting and dialogue was universally bad throughout. I have thought before that Gabrielle Anwar is a poor actress, and this movie only confirmed it. She has an expressionless face and a flat, monotone voice that annoyed me no end. She must only be cast because she is photogenic. Her reactions are forced and a second too late. Poor Shirley Jones was given some of the worst dialogue ever. The handyman also did no acting--just a frozen face like a zombie.

I knew who the culprit was right away when the sister made up the story about playing cards with her brother as an alibi.

Why were they sitting in front of a roaring fire in the middle of a Mississippi summer?

I was just asking me the same question. All day long special agent something kept sweating and then at night they were sitting in front of a fire? Just because it's romantic or what?

In response to the card-playing alibi, the brother says with a serious expression to his sister, "We haven't played cards in months". I burst out laughing at that point. SO BAD!!

Also, at the end when the sister was in the bedroom with a gun threatening suicide and he kept banging on the french doors - WHY didn't he break the glass right away and not until after she shot herself??

I haven't read a Nora Roberts book, but I thought the story itself was kind of interesting and could see how it would make a good book, especially if it's written with lots of description which doesn't translate into the movie. I had to finish watching it because it was so bad.
