Plot Holes? SPOILERS of course!

I read the posts about the "Belinda" factor in the ending. Lots of good theories there... that's why I come here. Aside from a few trolls and arguments, lots of IQ points at work!

HOWEVER...

For me, the big hole is, why are they going back for Darius' mom? She apparently lied about her mom being dead... she tells Jeff (magazine writer) her parents merely divorced.

Is this, then, a wasted trip based on two lies (Belinda nor mom are dead)?

I did like the way the title referred both to the time travel risk and the risk of relationships. I don't know about the former, but boy do I know about the latter!

she's just going back for the adventure , and to help out Kenneth with his mission.
Apparently she's (belinda) only alive because they went back
Even if thats not the case , Belinda could probably still do without the car accident

I actually thought that Darius lied about her parents getting divorced. The story of how her mother died was too personal and raw and she didn't want to share it with that guy.

I think you're right. The way she told the story about "... until my mom died", and it showed her house being packed up, I think that was real. She didn't want Jeff to think she had a real reason for wanting to time travel.

At the very start of the movie, Darius says that her mother died when she was 14. I think that pretty much proves that the story was true, but what she told Jeff was a lie, because she didn't want to share that personal information with him.
