Rather see him play Doc again.

I still think that was Val's best work/role. We always see Earp, I'm kinda of interested more on Doc's going from dentist to a fast gun. I bet that is an interesting story to tell.

agreed

Heck yeah, that's what I wanna see.

Maybe in an animated movie. He's too old and fat now. Doc died in his thirties, a walking cadaver.

I very much agree... I would rather see a film titled DOC HOLLIDAY with his past and present and death in one film... with Wyatt as the supporting character. I love Doc.... He's really my hero! I love that man... and Val Kilmer did the best Doc I've ever seen! <3

reply

I'm with you! Wyatt, Wyatt blah blah blah!! I saw he was in this and thought for sure he'd be Doc again. Doc and Jim Morrison are his two best performances and how I'd love to see more DOC...

reply

I totally agree with you msm. I absolutely loved his performances as Doc and Jim Morrison. Doc is what made Tombstone great. Doc deserves his own story to be told. as for him being old and fat, well he can workout with a trainer to get down to Doc weight again. Now to find someone who can write this script and direct since George P Cosmatos has died since Tombstone.

reply

Tombstone was directed by Kurt Russell. Costomas is a director in name only for the studio as they didn't want to trust the movie to a 1st time director. He did the same thing for Sly Stallone on Rambo.

reply

Huh?

Tombstone was directed by Kurt Russell. Costomas is a director in name only for the studio

That's the first I've ever heard that. You sure?

I heard that the movie was going to be directed by its screenwriter Kevin Jarre ('Glory' & 'Rambo: First Blood Part II', ironically,) but was taken off for being too green. They wanted an "old pro" directing it, so they found old hack Cosmatos.
Now you're saying Russell was the real director!? I have a harder time believing that than believing Cosmatos for the first and last time directed something as good as 'Tombstone'.

IF Russell really directed it, how come he hasn't directed anything else? If he's the director, he did a great job.

I'd prefer to believe Kevin Jarre stayed on as director despite what the titles say, although I'll believe anything that can be proven.

Russell did direct Tombstone. He agreed not to reveal that until after George died. Russell gave an interview about it in True West magazine. He's also on possession of hours of cut footage which he will hopefully release in a longer edition someday.

I've since done some research on that (beyond IMDb) and I believe Kurt Russell did direct most of it. Which make me angry: why has he never directed again!? He did such a marvelous job with this one.

Well, I really hope so.

I want to see another Kurt Russell-directed movie or two!

gotta mention him as Simon Templar in The Saint. not gonna feel right him playing Wyatt. Just like Lucian playing a vampire looked totally off to me. alot of Val's more recent work is more of just paychecks not really acting roles that he's put any effort into.
