Attention to detail

I've just re-watched both series for the 3rd time and the whole lot had me laughing out loud again from start to finish. The incredible attention to detail is what really makes it and every time I watch it I get a bit more from it. The acting with a few exceptions is brilliant, especially Olivia Colman and Hugh Bonneville, whose unspoken attraction is wonderfully poignant. You especially feel for Colman... who is an insanely talented actress, it's phenomenal what she can convey with just her tiny little micro-expressions, and of course she showed us she's equally capable of the serious roles in the harrowing Tyrannosaur. Jessica Hynes is excellent as usual and Amelia Bulmore's comedic talent something of a surprise.

The skill needed to get all the double-takes and interruptions perfect must be considerable, they must have needed loads of takes to get it all so consistently good. Kudos to the lot of them.

It's hard not to draw comparisons with People Like Us, which is also superb, but I don't think one is better than the other.

If this doesn't make much sense it's because I should have gone to bed 3 hours ago.
