have to admit I was expecting something much more documentary-ee from this, and was quite surprised ('pleasently', I do bcchhowww's as much as the next person) at what turned out to be a Hollywood explosion-athon (the entire second half of the movie)

obviously people knew what happened at the WTC, and you wouldn't want to glamourise it. 94 people saw the Deepwater Horizon rig go up (plus anyone on a boat or helicopter nearby) and they probably wanted other people to see what happened

the vertically panning shots showing the depths of the pipe reminded me of how the movie 2012 should have started (rather than just seeing a hot tub with some lights in it)
