*beep* Watchable

For you who do not live in the South, this might be watchable, but just like those movies about Apollo missions and other "space based" films... *beep* just because the movie takes place in the South, doesn't mean the ENTIRE crew and executives from BP are FROM the South.

Listening to John Malkovich fake his way through this movie with a CAJUN or Coonass accent, is beyond the pale. Kurt Russels's accent was fine, but please... Hollywood... not everyone in the South is FROM the South.

I've lived here (Florida) for 50 years... I STILL don't have an accent.

I'm just glad Mark Wahlberg was spared... that would have made this film a comedy.

Oh... yeah... a "southern" affectation is so darlin'... it just makes everyone feel so good.

HORSE *beep* It's makes good actors look stupid. Not SOUND stupid... LOOK stupid. It also makes you Hollywood studio execs, producers and directors look stupid too.

Shoot him, cut out his tongue, then shoot his tongue.

Some people do a decent take on Southern accents (Andrew Lincoln on The Walking Dead), and some of them are pure *beep* I have been living in Louisiana for 4 years now, and some days I have the accent and other days my Baltimore accent takes over.

Funny thing is many actors who play Southerners these days are from countries other than the US. I've always found Australians fairly skilled at the accent i.e. Ryan Kwanten in True Blood.
