Terrible coach

Bill Courtney doesn't know how to coach, motivate, or manage a team. The only reason he is the coach is because nobody else would do it...especially as a volunteer. Give Bill credit for effort, but he's going about it the wrong way.

It's pretty obvious he is doing this to save himself. He sees himself in these kids and wants to do everything he can to make sure he's their Jesus Christ. Good on him.

The kids dont WANT to win. In practice, when they couldnt kick a fieldgoal you see them all turn to the coach. They're waiting for the yelling. Instead, they should be upset with themselves moreso than coach would be. They dont seem to have the WANT to win.

When Chavis punched his teammate, coach told the teammate to step aside and Chavis went about eating his chips. Wasn't even asked to leave the room for assaulting another person. Then coach asked Chavis to apologize "for someone other than himself"...good job in letting know who's in charge lol. In any other team this kid would be either charged or thrown off the team...or both. There are players on the team who want to do good, the coach should focus on them instead of tryin to save the troublemakers who are killing the team.

When Chavis walks away and coach chases him to the parking lot shows how desperate and not-in-control the coach was.

Terrible is a little harsh, BUT he turned around the Manassas program, then did really well at St. George's (although on the maxprep pages for St. George's at the time, it doesn't show him as HC. Was he not the Head Coach at St. George's?), 2 title games, 1 title win, and it's 2013 and he can't get a coaching job.

You'd think with the success he's had he'd have many FOR PAY head coaching opportunities thrown his way, but I get the vibe he hasn't. At least that there lends itself to the notion that maybe he's not as great of a coach as the film makes him out to be.
