Horrible! Just horrible!

I can't express how badly this film was directed. I was not engaged to any part or scene in the entire thing! I really thought it was going to be better than mediocre but I was wrong. Story line was weak. Jokes were lame and not even funny. I didn't feel the "love story" was even in existence with Jason and the photographer. Everything thing was unrealistic!

I feel sad that RD agreed to be in this film.

Ugh. So many bad things. ?

Yes, the supposed budding relationship between Jason and the photographer was VERY lazily executed. I didn't believe a bit of it. Seems the screenwriter wanted to make DeNiro say as many disgusting things as possible within as short a time as possible. And then they try to redeem him with a hammy, cheesy, unconvincing ending.

You know something is terribly wrong when Julianne Hough is the highlight of the film.

HORRIBLE is right.

"This is dead air, Barry....dead air."

reply

Yes! It was rushed from the beginning. Really dislike *beep* films like this.

reply

Besides having Hough to look at, the only highlight was Jason Mantzoukas as the drug dealer. If the whole movie had been about him, perhaps it would have been slightly better.

This is what is known as a "comedy". It's light hearted, good natured fun. Stop being so boring in your life, and enjoy it. Your taste is appalling.

reply

Problem is, friend, comedies are supposed to be FUNNY.

Ever think of that, my appalling genius?

This guy is obviously the type who laughs at anything, applauds everything, and can't help himself from getting bum-hurt when anyone points out an obnoxiously bad film.

After all, it's "comedy". Right? Geeze.

That's a very consistent attitude with simple people. Look around, it's everywhere. It's like nails on a chalkboard to them when someone criticizes a film. IMDB is positively overflowing with those types. Anyone who doesn't share their 3rd grade level adoration of ANY comedy, is a pretentious poser in their mind.

"Stop being so boring in your life, and enjoy it."

LOLOLOL!

Sucks to be a stereotype.

^^How right you are!^^

Yeah, like one goes to see what is clearly marketed as a toilet humour comedy to become "engaged" in any aspect of the characters or the overarching plot. These movies are all about the next joke (regardless of whether or not said joke clicks with you personally) & offending as many unsuspecting idiots as possible whilst appealing to the lowest common denominator in what is considered to be humour whilst trying to push everything just a little further. Don't come here to pretend as if you didn't know exactly what this movie would be like just like the last 50 movies like this that have been released. You knew exactly what you were getting into when you went to see it & now you're whining about it. Grow up.

No, no, no....just because a film aims for bad taste doesn't mean it has to be poorly written and poorly acted. As we've said in other threads, if the film had decided to go for it fully in its bad taste, without a cheesy, needless romance and a cliched "lesson" of an ending, we'd have more respect for it. Films like "Bad Santa", "Bad Teacher" and "The Hangover" did raunchy bad taste with MUCH more smarts and a better screenplay.

The only one who has to grow up....is you.

Let me get this straight-
You dislike this movie
You voice how much you dislike this movie on the message boards (a public forum)
You bully/name call anyone who has a different view on the film stooping as low as using the word midget -
Ironic really that you should suggest to others to grow up.

The best part of this movie is that people like you get so upset over it. . . .

I hope there's a sequel

reply

Never bullied anyone. Read back....ya'll started the name calling first.

Most critics have lambasted the film. You're in the minority.....the film is dreadful. DeNiro tarnishing his legacy. Check out his forum.....his fans are blasting him for this ridiculous role. You're just the kind of empty-headed viewer mainstream Hollywood is aiming for.

What a victim. Actually, you that started the name calling. I'll reserve the clever and high horse name calling you displayed. Listing off a few titles which happen to be the exception, doesn't validate anything nor does stating "most critics". This movie was billed to make money off laughs. It's sold to the masses, not paid critics. The trailer didn't give the sense of endearing romance, it was sold as a DIRTY OLD MAN.

Robert DeNiro has his own opinion of himself or do you really think how you feel about him outweighs that.

If you have to title and author your quotes, they aren't worth quoting.

I enjoyed it a little bit at the beginning and some other parts. I honestly only watched this to see Aubrey Plaza. I can see that they didn't really have a script there and just followed a rough storyline and mainly rephrased what they were supposed to say. The whole exchange with the cops is so cringeworthy and the actors make up things as they go and not coherent. I usually like these stupid movies sometimes but it was just so horrible... Especially the acting and their unrealistic portrayal. I'd rather watch Gigi over than this crap again.

Very well said. Some people here blast those who trash the film because they think we don't like raunchy humor.

WRONG. Raunchy humor, when done well, is excellent. Think "Bad Santa" or "The Hangover". Those films were smartly written, with interesting and funny characters.

This film feels like a warmed-over reject from the bottom of a script pile.

And yeah, the scenes with the "cops" were just horrendous and poorly executed. A similar take on clueless cops was done with much better style in "Superbad", for example. Bill Hader and Seth Rogen were hilarious there.

The whole time I watched this I just felt... Old. Like is this what kids are up to? Or find funny? And I mean, I enjoy films like 21 Jump Street or Bridesmaids. But this just kept shoving raunchy stuff on screen over and over. Like every scene was crazy ridiculous... And they didn't really ground the movie very well with any kind of heart of emotion IMO. I'm not saying they needed to drone on about feelings or whatever, but just like a breather between jokes.

-Who is it?
-It's Grandpa. And it sounds like he's gotten into the horseradish again.

reply

Yes, exactly. It was raunchy simply for the sake of being raunchy. That was the reason for its existence. Nothing remotely funny, inspiring, or creative about it.

A career low for DeNiro....no question.

I agree. I can't see why so many people is in love with this awful thing. It was a disgrace to the Cinema, and the actors.
I'm def not a prude, and I can handle dirty jokes (like Sacha Baron Cohen's movies)...this was just simply bad

reply

This movie was flat awful. Not funny, not interesting and not entertaining. I couldn't be bothered to watch the last 10 minutes.

2/10

It was a bad role for De Niro, what was he thinking!
