Rather negative review from Thehollywoodreporter. com

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/alps-venice-film-review-231014

I will I agree on one thing even though I have not seen the film yet. Servetalis and Papoulia are excruciatingly bad actors...

reply

It's not really even negative, and it's one amongst plenty of glowing reviews, the film has already been favoured to be a contender for some of the prizes at the Venice Film Festival. I know you're not a fan of them because you bring it up every chance you get (eg your trolling on the Papoulia board), but surely there are better things to fill one's time with. The review doesn't even mention their acting as bad and calls the film a "fine example of cinema of the absurd". Your post is kind of pointless.

You are wrong, I really liked Dogtooth and I am curious about Alps. But Papoulia is a bad actress who constantly plays the same thing over and over. And Servetalis is not even worthy of being called an actor. I wish Lanthimos would chose more talented people like Lukia Michalopoulou for example...

reply

Fair enough , your opinion is your opinion and sorry if I came off rudely but I just don't think it's necessary to misrepresent a review just to repeat yourself and spout hate every chance you get just because you have a negative opinion of an actor.

Sorry, it just gets on my nerves when talented creators use talentless actors in their work just because for some reason they are "hip" at the time. Reminds of when Theo Angelopoulos actually had Stratos Tzortzoglou, probably Greece's worse actor ever, as the main star in his film "Landscape in the mist"! Tzortzoglou was considered "hip" and "talented" back then and woe to anyone who claimed the opposite but time proved he was simply awful and his name is now synonymous to bad acting. Bravo for the "Best Screenplay" award to Lanthimos&Fillipou btw.

reply

Well I can definitely agree with you on Tzortzoglou!

Excuse me...Are you both GREEK? If yes, why do you speak in English? I don't think a non-Greek will interfere in this thread!

p.s.: And why do I speak in English, since I'm Greek too? Please reply in Greeklish if you're Greek. I'd prefer Greek letters, but IMDB doesn't accept them. So, Greeklish please.

p.s.2: By the way, I liked "Kinetta". I didn't like "Dogtooth". And I don't think I'm gonna like "Alps". I saw the teaser trailer. I read about the film. I know which actors play (and my opinion about them and their acting isn't the best). I know Lanthimos' intentions. And I don't agree with them.

Papoulia gave a great performance.

I think so too. The actors did a fabulous job, especially Papoulia in what is a very difficult role.
