58 minutes in and becoming a little agitated. The first ten minutes or so was intriguing and raised a lot of questions, but here it is almost an hour later and...man, its just slooow. Slow paced, slow panning shots, slow, soft dialogue...just above a whisper, really, the last 20 minutes or so. Pillow-soft. The dulled color palette acting like a blanket for the eyeballs, smoothing out scenery and backgrounds into differing shades of grey rather than anything that could be correlated with "vibrant"...awake, even. Everything about this movie right now is a siren song from nap-time island, a collage of lullabies rolled into the perfect storm...

Good God I'm sleepy, does it get better? I'm okay with slower movies, really. But give the viewer something to keep their interest...anything, really. Because I'd rather be doing anything other than watching this snooze-fest right now, hence my coming here lol I've been looking forward to watching this movie since before it even came out in theaters...never could have imagined I'd be squirming in my seat an hour into it. So boooooring!

Movies shouldn't be a homework assignment. If you don't like it, stop watching it. I do that sometimes and check out how things unfolded if I'm curious.

I liked 2049 even though I felt it was a little long.

Incredible writing.
This sounds good to me though. Some will find it sleep inducing in a negative sense and others will find it hypnotic. It's always how it goes with more ambient movies like this.

It's one of the few movies that I went to see twice in the theater. The return visit was to understand the story better because I really liked so much about the film, but walked out with questions.

The first time I did find the movie a bit slow. Still interesting, but the pace felt ponderous at times. The second time though, for whatever reason (maybe it's because I knew what to expect), I did not. Ultimately I ended up naming it as my favorite film of 2017.

Now I own it on 4K Blu-Ray.

Lol good writing? Thanks, was really feeling it there, it wrote itself, you know? But I went back and watched it a few months later...its a good movie. I like your word "ambient"...yeah it definitely has its own mood; I think I was a little too sleepy to keep in that vibe for as long as I did. Good movie though!
