plan was to see it twice...

saw it first in 3D, then was going to go to 2D, but the plot is so easy and forgettable, I'm not sure why'd I'd go back. Maybe for the pretty video game? You can't even PLAY it. I could stay home and play REAL video games.

reply

you go back for the visuals and that music.

Second time was a charm for me. Both times in 3D. Check it out again. This is textured or intentionally layered film that reveals more when you see it again, like a gestalt. I'm gonna see it a third time while it's still in the theaters. Just have to find the time.

I got it all the first time around, though. If I felt I missed something, I'd be running toward it. But I didn't, and don't feel the urge to sit through the story again. Like Bobby said, maybe for the visual and music. BUT, money better spent on the Blu-Ray, me thinks....

So why was Deckard so angry with K when they first met?

reply

because he was found.
because K was probably there to kill him.
because K reminds him of his past, rachel, killing etc
because he knew they'd be after his kid.

that should cover it. Or maybe something else, but the overall plot was so "meh" I stopped caring.

Punching him nine times? So? K can take it. So?? Stop and move on with the plot already. Wasteful. Tells us things we already knew and didn't care about: K's a replicant who can take it, isn't giving up.... blah blah blah

reply

Yese to your list of "becauses". Yes, they could have cut down on the punches.

A "snappier" edit with less long, slow shots (love the music) would have helped. I'm a HUGE fan but the running time getting chopped a good 15-20 minutes could have helped with general audiences.

there were so many redundant moments like that. this film could easily have had 30 minutes shaved off, which would have improved the pacing immensely.

reply

exactly. I plan to edit it myself someday, after I get the blu-ray

When they say Real D on the newspaper ad, is that 3D?

reply

triple check the theater before you pay, but my local ad says this: "RealD is the most widely used digital 3D cinema technology."

reply

Thanks for the info.

I saw it in IMAX 2D. Will try to catch it again in 3D.

I thought it was pretty basic the first time I saw it, too. On the second time, though, I had a much greater appreciation for it and how well the premise is presented.

Also, on that second time, I was able to more fully appreciate the style of the movie. The thing is very well put together, moreso than I had felt before.

sounds exactly like 1982's Blade Runner.
