How irritating was the Mexican chick

Seriously how irritating was the Mexican chick, the voice and her acting were terrible

reply

Actually the single most irritating female character was the young mother in whose apartment the two cops took shelter doing the gun battle. She was too dumb to realize that her shouting would only bring the killers to her door. The two cops were too dumb to explain that to her in either English or Spanish. The three of them could best be described as Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest. All the three of them had to do was lie low and keep quite till backup arrived.

One could argue given that there are lots of people talking about how annoying she was means she did a great job at her role. Don't get me wrong, I hated her character too, but that's the point as someone else pointed out- as an audience, because she's an antagonist, we're supposed to.

More to the point, I'd also note that there's a difference between disliking a character, and disliking an actor or actress.

Sure, her attitude and posturing was over the top, but that doesn't mean the actress playing her did a bad job. Think about it. This is a character surrounded by some of the most hard core testosterone filled, drug addled male retards ever to grace the silver screen. Of course she's going to be acting hard core, bad ass and stupid too. She had to in order to fit in.

Not out of character in my books.

The actress that played the mexican chick did a good job with portraying the role but I felt as though the character was indeed over the top and annoying.

The actress is Yahira Garcia:

Apparently, she's a rapper known as "Flakiss".

Oh boy. I found one of her music videos on YouTube:

Also, in this interview she talks about her character in End of Watch:

I find it a bit disturbing how she rationalizes and seemingly justifies her character's behavior as if it were entirely a product of her environment and has nothing to do with any personal moral failings on the character's part:

"She's just a kid from the hood, y'know like grew up rough, and she had a tough life, circumstances just led her to gang-banging and drug dealing or whatever. She just got caught up in the life, trying to survive the streets. She did what she could just to survive."

Yeah, because everyone who grows up rough and has a tough life just becomes a drug-dealing murderer.

Oh wow...she's even overboard and corny in her rap video. She is the worst!

Have you looked at the statistics? How many rocket scientists, architectural engineers, and astro physisysts do you see coming out of the hood or the barrio? Not saying everyone who grows up in those areas turns to crime, but when your options are work for pennies or work for thousands, which one are you gonna pick?

Also not every gang member who joins does so because they like the idea of drive by shootings, some of them are threatened into joining. Like hay join us or were gonna do a drive by on your house next time we go by there.

You may not like gangs but if someone says theyre gonna shoot up your house with your family in it, and you live in an area where 911 doesnt come around, your kind of limited in what your options are.

She was hot. She portrayed her character with accuracy. I know a few like that. Not the type you want on your bad side.

what are you serious? she looked like Marilyn Manson lol

One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.

Oh gawd she was the worse. She was way to out there...her acting was atrocious. See seems like she based her character off of other "gangsta" movies she's seen.

I don't understand why she was even in the gang.
That gang represented "La eMe" (The M, The Mexican Mafia), The Mexican Mafia and any gang that represents it does not allow gay, lesbian or bisexual members. If they find out one of their members is one of those three they are then killed.

Without releasing too much info with possible spoilers, she was either lesbian or bisexual therefore she should have been killed.

I thought she was great

I turned to my wife and said did they just pull some kids off the street and put her in the movie..so that means she must of been good...now i never been to south central so the only thing i can base it off of is some of the ghettos area here in ny...and i have to say i thought it was pretty real...you have to remember that in movies alot of the gangsta characters we see are portrayed like they have a soul or a reason for being the way they are..and deep down theres a good person there or even though theyre gangstas theyre still cool people..most of the time thats not the case....real criminals or gangstas are not charming articulate or fun to be around....theyre scary talk alot of non sense and would kill you on a dime...so i thought the girl and the rest of the homeboys did a good job...

Maybe it was an attempt to induce true hatred of those despicable hispanic gangsters? It's like casting Bobcat Goldthwait in his comedy character, too far stretched.
