Angelo's character and Vassili's paradise

Angelo is a complete mystery.
Anyone noticed that when the doctor keeps their blood, he has several other bags, and on each one of them, it has a description, things like: 'whore' etc, etc - I could not read all of them, apparently that's how he described his patients(depending on the activity of each one of them), including Vassili; but on Angelo's bag he has a big question mark instead. What he meant by that? Wasn't Angelo a prostitute as well? What made him unsure?? The results of the examination??
I wonder what Angelo was doing in that park in the first place. What kind of life he had before he met Vassili? His clothing was banal, those he bought later seemed more expensive...

Vassili was right in calling him Angelo(angel). But instead of taken the opportunity to redeem himself, he "corrupted" the angel and then created a rotten paradise for them. I guess there was no other way for him, maybe if his life had been different!
Great film.

I like your points.

I think Angelo symbolises purity, youth and true love (for Vassili).
But not all love stories have happy endings, and Vassili was already too damaged to redeem himself.

Indeed.
I was actually surprised with the amount of negative criticism towards Gael. I don't know if these people are familiar or not with his mindset, but he has stated during an interview (and probably many more times before) that, he's not a militant of the gay rights, he's a Cineaste who likes to tell stories about several subjects, but he recognises that some of them may be polemic. In my opinion, he doesn't make movies just to portray these or that group of people in a certain way.

Yeah but I also think Morel depicts outcasts and minorities with a sensibility few filmmakers accomplish.

Yeah, that's definitely his trademark.

PS: How I wish there was fandom for this movie. Even a small fandom would be better than no fandom at all! *sigh*

I'm a Morel fan as well as Stéphane Rideau's. They are awesome together on screen and their director-actor collaboration is always cool.

Me too, their collaboration has been very fruitful!...My reference was more towards the movie, it is a pity that is not as well known.

I wonder how old is Angelo supposed to be.

Although he never said his age, he appears to be around 16, 17/18 or 19!
