How many gay themed films do we need that portray gay men as amoral scum that prostitute, steal and murder eachother out of sexual desire? I mean is EVERY gay man a sex addict? Does every gay man value youth and physical beauty and NOTHING else? Are gay men over 30 really considered worthless garbage? If films like this are accurate, then wow; how depressing and awful it must be to be a gay man..

I see it more as a nihilist picture of an aging hustler who finds true love... but he can't leave the bad feelings and memories behind, so he becomes bitter/bad.

tbh im also sick of movies that have main characters that are gay and they sleep around with loads of people....drink all the time and do drugs :/
most gay people are not like that so I do not know why on earth most gay centred movies make out like its everyone doing it
A reference for me is the French film Stranger by the Lake. Both films are about gay psychopathic killers and their complicit lovers (though Stranger is the better film). The Paradise lovers are betrayed by a child who intuitively knows what they are all about; Franck's fate in Stranger is left hanging.
What's Love (desire) got to do with it? Apparently everything.
The same film came to mind. I'm just surprised this movie and Stranger by the Lake have so many positive ratings.
And most straight people are dull and lifeless, and wouldn't make interesting subjects, just as the majority of gays wouldn't either. Damaged, conflicted characters create the best drama, straight or gay. That's just the way it is.
