Leo’s death

Do you think it was implied that if Christop Waltz had went to shake his hand Leo was gonna stab him? Hence why he shot him?

reply

anybody?

reply

No. Waltz shot him because he simply couldn't bring himself to shake the hand of someone he had no respect for and who had got the better of him. I don't believe Leo was ever going to harm Waltz, he just wanted to get another one over Waltz by forcing him into shaking his hand, knowing he didn't want to.

Personally, I don't actually buy that Waltz would jeopardise the lives of Django and his wife by shooting Leo. I mean he probably would have shaken his hand had it all gone to plan anyway. He could have gritted his teeth, shaken his hand, then shot him at some other point afterwards if he felt such disgust towards him. That might have made a better ending as well.

No

My sense of it is that Waltz was doing his best to hold his temper in check, while DiCaprio kept, unknowingly, pushing him. Shaking his hand was the final straw, and Waltz snapped. His original intent was to complete the transaction and leave with all parties unscathed.

reply

I didn't get that hint. I think Waltz shot him simply because he was disgusted by him.

reply

Yeah he was disgusted by the idea of leaving Candie there to keep being rich and abusive without learning his lesson.

reply

Pretty much. He couldn't get the thought of that guy being killed by the dogs out of his head.
