Did Django need to shoot Lara Lee? Wasn't she innocent?

The following is from the FAQ section for this movie:

"Did Django need to shoot Lara Lee? Wasn't she innocent?

Calvin Candie's sister, Lara Lee was far from innocent. She lived on a plantation and clearly had no issues with how her brother brutalized his slaves and likely had a say in how they were punished as well. She constantly held up her nose above the black race, viewing them as nothing more than inferior, sub-human animals. She also had no hang-ups about prostituting her slaves to her guests, given how she dragged Broomhilda up to Dr. Schultz's room. While some might bring up as proof of Lara's righteousness when Stephen and Calvin show off Broomhilda's whipped back and Lara chastises them, it's actually due to her eating dinner and not wanting to be repulsed by looking at mutilated skin. At the end of the film, she was the one who originally wanted to have Django castrated, but changed her mind and decided to sell Django to the LeQuint Dickey Mining Company for a slow, brutal, agonizing death, after Stephen subtly suggests it. Not to mention, Lara Lee was making Broomhilda into a "comfort girl" for both the Mandingos and the slave wranglers. Despite the fact that Django really didn't "need" to shoot Lara Lee, as she was unarmed and posed no imminent threat to him, it's understandable as to why he'd want to take revenge on her. In fact, people could even agree that Lara was taken out the easiest, quickest and cleanest way by Django compared to most of the other villains of the film. For example, Django is shown gunning down Billy Crash multiple times and leaves him suffering and wailing a few moments before finally shooting him dead; Django also violently shoots the elderly Stephen in both of his kneecaps before casually walking out of the Big House, leaving the old man screaming in agonizing pain for several long minutes until the plantation blows up."

Whoever wrote this is sick. Shooting an unarmed woman who has committed no capital crimes and is just a dumb bitch is disgusting. I really hated this aspect of the film and wish it had not happened. I have other issues with this film but this issue is the most glaring one of all. Clearly the person who wrote that FAQ has been hypnotized into thinking that violence against women is OK if that woman was dumb. Personally, I would shoot the person who wrote this crap for being a sick freak who encourages violence against women.

He simply didn't want to leave any white witnesses ... was it right? Of course not but I doubt that was on his mind at the time because he simply saw her as a ghastly someone willing to prostitute his wife ... she was the sister of one of the most evil men alive from his perspective and that evil man had her blessings.

She was pure evil and got less than what she deserved. Being a woman doesn't exempt her. Only a right-wing Cirinist would think that she is innocent.

She turned Django over to LeQuint Dickey (maybe it was Stephen's idea, I don't remember, but nevertheless, she gave the go-ahead) and kept Broomhilda as a prostitute. You mean to tell me her death wasn't justified? I'll bet you'd feel the same way even if after she slaughtered a bunch of innocent children, wouldn't you? I was a little disappointed we didn't get to see her brains or any of her innards fly ten feet out like everybody else's! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

The problem is that the movie never really establishes her as a villain of any sort aside from a racist idiot. Django killing her unarmed and in cold blood just makes him seem like he's become a monster too, a far cry from the man who regretted shooting a convicted murderer in front of his son.

Had we seen Lara show *much* more contempt for the black slaves (maybe even making ot clear that she thinks even less of them than Calvin during his discussion?), shown her nastily gloating to Hilde that she was going to make her a whore after Django was sent to the mine, or even just a scene of her spitting vengeance on Django when he's captured to make it clear she *would* come after him if he spared her, him shooting her (in a manner that reminded me of Unforgiven's memorable "you just shot an unarmed man!" scene) would have been far more acceptable.

As it is, he just murders a grieving, terrified and unarmed woman because of her skin colour.

While she appears to be innocent, there's a chance that Lara could have potentially helped law enforcement find Django later on had he allowed her to live. He did what he had to do to leave it all 100% behind.

Oh my god, what about: screw that bitch. She was a despicable human being who didn't give a damn about the fact that her brother was a scumbag slaver, she did NOTHING to help the slaves, she was a racist c***, she was happy despite all the shit the was surrounding her, etc. She got what she deserved. Women want equality? Well, here, they have it. You act like a scumbag, you die like one.

She was as racist as Calvin and sold Django off as a slave. Her death didn't bother me.
