So disappointing

As an avid fan of Storm Chasers, and a SKYWARN certified spotter, and a lead admin on a FB page dedicated to storms and weather I know what this 'could' have been. Why it wasn't I don't know. I was too nice to ask Sean Casey when I met him in Peoria Illinois when I saw the film...

It was not even that educational, let alone entertaining. For all the time and money spent on the TIV and TIV2, I had high hopes for a compilation of all the IMAX footage and yes I was glad Bill Paxton narrated. But what was lacking was substance. The only reason I can come up with is that due to the limitations of IMAX and the lack of good footage they were left with only one option. Knowing that the film was expected, and likely had some form deadline... They used what they had and basically made a filler film.

My only hope is that Sean Casey, Reed Timmer and others like him will continue to advance the science of storm chasing, and in the process capture high quality footage that will someday make it to the big screen. I will say that it wasn't 'bad' I just know it could have been a lot better.

Here's to hoping that Sean isn't done making IMAX tornado films and that he gets a better shot of a tornado to show as the climax to what will hope five Tornado Alley 2.

And as a guy who has chased and intercepted tornados, and who knows a bit about film and photography, the best faking of tornado for that would be a high base, low precipitation stovepipe or rope style EF2, because that would allow for the best lighting for good quality filming, and would show what I believe Sean was seeing in his mind all along. A defined tornado heading for the TIV, hitting the TIV, and moving past the TIV while allowing for good quality filming in the process. So I can only hope that one day we can see that on the big screen.

Until then, it's headphones ore surround sound on max and sitting close to the TV for me.
