a few of you seem to want the stereotypical Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee look complete with dark hair and widows peak plus cape and fangs which has been done to death and is not the same as Bram Stoker's description.

Harker describes Dracula as having white hair, a long white moustache, pointed ears, sharp teeth, and hairy palms.

Few adaptations have depicted Dracula growing younger ala the novel, it's true. However, the widow's peak and cape are consistent with Stoker's descriptions. When we first meet the Count he's described as having profuse hair except at the temples - the very definition of a widow's peak. Initially we're not given a rundown of his exact wardrobe, only that it's all black...but later when Harker sees him scuttle down the side of his castle like a bat, Stoker has him wearing a cape.

true but I'm not sure whether I'd describe "profuse hair except at the temples" a widows peak. i thought a widows peak was a pointy bit of hair in the middle of the forehead.

He could be a good choice.....as long as he's made up like the books description.

maybe for part of the movie he could look like that, but not the whole
time that would be ridiculous...

At the beginning when Harker goes to the castle definitely. it all depends on how it's done too. if he has really pointy ears then i agree that could look ridiculous but maybe it could be done in a more subtle way.

I just hope they don't go for the silly cape and fangs routine like Bela Lugosi's pantomime like effort. i hope this film looks stylish and grown up.

I'm looking forward to seeing Thomas Kretschmann, but Vincent Cassel was always someone I thought could be Dracula
