Different opening titles on US release??!!

Is it true that the US release has a different opening title sequence than the Italian release?

This is how the Italian release starts: http://s7.directupload.net/images/140203/72tj6way.jpg

If true, then it makes the Italian release the definitive cut.

I own both the Italian and the US versions now, and I can confirm that the US version does have different opening credits indeed!

I think it was mostly done because it was re-titled here. It's not "Dracula 3D" anymore. It's "Argento's Dracula." They change the title sequence, particularly for the DVD version, which doesn't have the 3D in it at all. The opening sequence was filmed for 3D. It had to be changed because it's no longer 3D, the title is officially changed, and now IFC has to be acknowledged as the distributor. Once it starts panning over the village it's roughly the same. Nicer audio quality too.
