The casting and acting of DRACULA : good or bad?

Dario Argento's movies aren't especially known for the quality of their acting but i think that "Dracula"'s casting overall isn't bad, i especially like Marta Gastini (Mina) and Rutger Hauer (Van Helsing), both doing fine works...Marta Gastini is a charming, convincing Mina Harker and Rutger Hauer surprisingly doesn't overact.
For the rest: i don't know if Miriam Giovanelli is "good" or "bad" but she certainly is well chosen for her Tania character...the Count Dracula himself isn't bad, a bit wooden but Thomas Kretschmann's low key melancholic portrayal of Dracula works rather well.
Weakest parts are probably the supporting actor killed by the praying mantis (unless it is the dubbing) and, unfortunately, Asia Argento's rather weak performance.

Hauer, Kretschmann, Gastini are pretty good. The rest is passable. Not bad at all. Look at Argento's other films. The acting was never top notch.

Gastini is good from start to finish!
She is well chosen for Mina's part...the actor playing Renfield also seems to have fun with his turn.
Asia is disappointing though, she was better even in "Mother of tears" even if i think that the casting of "Dracula" is better overall than some of Argento's more praised films.
Acting in films like "Inferno", "Sleepless", "Opera" is mostly weak, indeed!

My favourite lead performances in Argento's films are from Jennifer Connelly ("Phenomena"), Stefania Rocca ("The Card Player"), David Hemmings ("Deep red"), Jessica Harper ("Suspiria"), Tony Musante ("The bird with the crystal plumage"), Asia Argento in "The Stendhal Syndrome" and "Trauma"...

I thought Thomas did an excellent job. A lot of Thomas's have played excellent Draculas lately. First Tom Hewitt in Frank Wildhorn's Dracula on Broadway, then Thomas Borchert in Dracula das Musical and now Thomas Kerchmann.

I think Thomas did an excellent job and was roughly the right age. Many Draculas are too young lately. The historical figure was forty five when he died. Even de-aged in the novel I doubt he looked younger than forty five. I think he was a better Dracula than a Van Helsing in that God-awful NBC series.

Asia Argento was good as usual. I wish she would've had more to do, though.

Burn, witch! Burn, witch! Burn! Burn! Burn!
