Are you f__king kidding me? This movie was more like a 7/10. I thought it was excellent. Great acting, great cinematography, great music choices... What is wrong with people?
I have to vote 10/10 to try to even out the score some. 4.9 is just ridiculous.
I agree, this was a really good movie. Great music, great story, fun to watch. I guess it does take a certain kind of person to enjoy, but it's not ridiculously outlandish or anything..
Definitely deserves a better rating. I rated it an 8 myself.
I also agree, but you're right that it's not for everyone. Another Kind is atmospheric, slow-paced and creepy. It's one of those movies where things seem increasingly off-kilter without any single major disaster or obvious cause. I love movies like that, but someone who wants non-stop action or constant scares or a clever, twisty plot would do better to look elsewhere.
Some people complained about the ending, but I didn't mind it. While there are plenty of hints as to the general nature of what's coming, the way we find out is kind of clever if a bit of a cliche. It's like the character stumbled out of the woods only to get hit by a car. However, I liked the characters enough to wonder what exactly what happened to them, particularly the last man standing.
Agreed. This was a solid little film with a refreshing emphasis on characters and atmosphere over cheap scares and flashy special effects. 8 out of 10 from me.

It was fairly well-made and creepy throughout, but I felt like it didn't really amount to much, hence my 4/10 rating. It probably could've been 5/10 if the ending had some major twist that explained anything besides what wasn't already majorly hinted at, but perhaps that's a nitpick on my part. I've seen similar low-budget films that have had a tighter storyline (my favorite being 2012's The Frozen) and more likeable characters so I can't give this one too much of a pass just because it was well-made and acted.
Overall, I've spent an hour and a half watching worse things so take that for what you will. It's not garbage, but it's not that stellar either.
