I will be sad to see this show go

I have never laughed so hard, out loud, at any show before! I don't understand why people dislike this show so much.

But more so, I don't understand why people have to fight so much on IMDB. If you don't like a show why would you go to a website week after week to bash the show? Why waste your time? You could go and talk to other people on another show's page about how much you like that show. That might be fun! Then maybe you wouldn't make yourself really unhappy and then try so desperately to make other people unhappy. Oh well, some people like to be miserable, I guess... :/

I have absolutely enjoyed this show! Damn it was funny!

Sure the show had great potential, but it was poorly executed. It really wasn't that funny and terribly inconsistent.

The tagline of the show was "Always a trophy, never a wife". Yet they get married...

What did Alex do? One episode he's rich the next he's poor? How about Whitney? Started off as a photographer, then became a personal assistant? What happened after that? Supposedly she "works".

Lilly? Added nothing to the show, even when she was with Neal. Poor Neal, is he straight, is he gay?

Roxanne and Mark were the better couple than Whitney and Alex! Which is sad considering that they are the side-characters.

I also am sad that it was canceled. I don't understand all the hate for this show. :(

reply

The hate from this show actually comes from people who have taste in humor and can see a poorly made run of the mill sitcom a mile away unlike you guys and others who enjoyed this show that are constantly questioning "why does everyone hate this show?". It's very simple, the show was not as funny as you thought it was.

i don't have a sig

reply

<3 This, Animal Practice was funnier than this. I just wanted something good to be on and it wasn't going to happen until this was cancelled.

As we grow we learn, i have learned that if you don't like me grow up or ignore me.

reply

I honestly liked the show, a lot, but i understand why everyone hated it. it was at times inconsistent. but people mostly hated it because they don't like Whitney as an actress, or person. shes loud, kind of obnoxious. i can see why there were haters, but i still thought it was really funny. and maybe i don't watch enough sit coms, but it wasn't run of the mill. that is left for Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men.

Eh, no. This show was hated because of its piss poor humour. Whitney being an annoying twat, had nothing to do with it.

What I lack in talent, I make up for in my pants!

reply

so it had nothing to do with you believing that she was an annoying twat? interesting considering you just called her an annoying twat, and probably having never even watched more than an episode

What you have described is actually false.
The fact one person thinks something is funny where as other people hated it is in fact just a matter of perspective. In fact comedy is one of those things very open to differing points of view. you might find one show excellent that another hates.

Take Big Bang Theory, one of the most popular comedy shows on at the moment. Does everyone like it? no? so if that is the case, based on your theory, it cannot be funny. Do the same with friends, one of the most popular comedies ever. does popular = good comedy, no. Following your example, because i did not like friends, it was not funny. A lot of people might disagree with me but I am right, and they are all wrong. Whitney got 2 seasons, so enough people liked it for it to get that far.

Your kind of post is typical of internet forums, where you consider your opinion to be some kind of fact, but the fact the op said they liked it, means it was funny, at least to some, so by inference, you are wrong.

A lot of shows get canned after a short period. I'm sure you liked some that did not make it far. So does that mean your taste in shows is bad? No, it just means you liked something others did not. It's called taste.

You can apply exactly the same argument to Music, in fact you can do it in reverse. A lot of music snobs think that as soon as a band gets popular they are no longer good(Muse for example). so by being popular, they stopped being good.

Personally I find the whole thing rather funny. All it proves is that taste cannot be classified as good or bad, only personal(with a few extreme exceptions).

So your statement is completely erroneous.

reply

They are showing reruns here now, never saw the show before and boy, it is bad. I watched about 6-7 eps so far and never did I enjoy it. I cant really blame Cummings or D'Elia, I actually think they are doing an ok job, but the writing etc is just poor.

reply

It was like stand-up comedy, so I think you were taking it too seriously. And, it was very funny. I also hate to see it go.

But to answer your questions, Alex made good money off internet start-ups, but that didn't mean he never needed to work again. Whitney was trying to make her art into a sustainable career, but like most all real artists, she had to take real job to make ends meet. Neal was gay and Lilly's character was very interesting, so I think she added a lot.

Umm... no. It was a sitcom. Otherwise they would have made it a stand-up comedy.
And, it was very funny.
Again no. Otherwise it would still be on the air.

It was light and goofy.

Sad to see it go.

For me, it was like Friends: turn your brain off and relax with some silly fictitious people.

Except that Friends was actually funny at times.

The supporting cast of Whitney (while perhaps talented actors) weren't cohesive with the group. Friends worked as a whole.

Do you not see the irony of wasting your time posting about how other people are wasting their time?

reply

Now now... don't go trying to bring logic and reason into this.

This is the internet! Where you can complain about whatever you want.

reply

I agree. Never laughed so hard at a show. I wonder what the people who hated this show consider funny.

reply

I agree. I love the show. Find it hilarious. Love that they laugh at their own jokes and they dont try and be like able twee characters.
